About this web site
The Israel Center for Assistive Technology and Aging (GeronTech) is a non-profit organization
established in 1998 as a joint venture of ESHEL - The Association for the Planning & Development
of Services for the Aged in Israel and MJHS - The Metropolitan Jewish Health System, in New York.
Both parent organizations are pre-eminent in the planning and delivery of healthcare and social
services to the elderly populations in their respective localities. GeronTech promotes and
facilitates the development and application of innovative technical solutions to assist the
elderly and disabled in the activities of daily living (ADL).
For the successful commercialization of carefully selected product concepts, GeronTech brings
to bear cross-disciplinary skills in engineering, design, project management, market research,
business development, and technology transfer, as well as expert knowledge in the fields of
aging and disabilities.
GeronTech's available know-how in assistive and rehabilitation technology, engineering,
industrial design, gerontology, and product development is dedicated to the advancement
of inclusive design for consumer durable products (i.e., products that, as far as possible,
are accessible to everyone, regardless of age or disability).
GeronTech cooperates, directly and through a network of professional associations, with
similar organizations in the North America, Europe, and Japan. Regular interaction concerning
user needs and technological developments for improving the quality of life for the elderly
population enhances GeronTech's ability to provide a comprehensive and integrated service to
Israeli developers of assistive products.
